GigaDevice Launches GD32G5 Series of Cortex-M33 Core High-Performance MCUs to Energize Innovation in Industrial Applications

BEIJING, China (November 13, 2024) - GigaDevice (Ticker: 603986), a leading supplier of semiconductor devices, announced the launch of the GD32G5 series of high-performance microcontrollers based on the Arm Cortex-M33 core.
With excellent processing performance, rich and diverse digital and analog interface resources, and enhanced safety performance, the GD32G5 series MCUs can be widely applied to a variety of scenarios, such as digital power, charging piles, energy storage inverters, inverters, servo motors, and optical communications. The new product portfolio offers 14 models in seven packages, including LQFP, QFN, and WLCSP. Samples and development boards are now available for application, and mass production will begin in December.

Powerful performance for the industrial market
The GD32G5 series MCUs adopt the Arm Cortex-M33 high-performance core with a main frequency of up to 216 MHz, built-in advanced DSP hardware gas pedal and single-precision floating-point unit (FPU); integrated hardware trigonometric function gas pedal (TMU), which supports 10 types of function calculations; and integrated filtering algorithm (FAC), fast Fourier (FFT), and other types of hardware acceleration units to significantly improve processing efficiency. The GD32G5 series MCUs have a performance of up to 316 DMIPS at the highest main frequency, with an outstanding performance of 694 points in CoreMark test.
The GD32G5 series MCUs are equipped with 256KB to 512KB embedded Flash, supporting Flash Dual Bank function; 128KB SRAM, including 32KB tightly-coupled memory TCMRAM, realizing zero-wait execution of key instructions and data; and up to 2KB I-Cache and 512B D-Cache cache space, further enhancing core processing efficiency. Rich Peripherals for Development Innovation
GD32G5 series MCUs integrate a series of rich peripheral resources. The GD32G5 series microcontrollers provide 5 U(S)ART, 4 I2C, 3 SPI and 1 QSPI, support up to 200MHz DDR/SDR interface; equipped with 3 CAN-FD modules for high-speed communication application scenarios; and also integrates 1 HPDF high-performance digital filter, supporting 8 Channels/4 The GD32G5 series supports a wide temperature range of -40~105°C, which can meet the differentiated scenarios of optical modules, industrial power supply, high-speed motor control, etc. with high temperature requirements.
Safe and Reliable Construction of Quality Fortress
The GD32G5 series MCUs have built-in security features that provide multiple security protection mechanisms for the communication process, including support for secure OTA, secure startup, secure debugging, secure upgrading, etc. The GD32G5 series MCUs provide 2KB of OTP memory. A 2KB OTP memory is provided to ensure that code data is not altered, thereby protecting the security and integrity of the device. This series of MCU Flash/SRAM supports ECC checksum in all areas. Built-in hardware encryption and decryption modules support DES, Triple DES or AES algorithms to ensure data security during communication. In addition, the products also support True Random Number Generator (TRNG).
The GD32G5 product family supports the system-level IEC 61508 SIL2 functional safety standard, and provides a complete Safety Package, including a series of functional safety information such as Safety Manual, FMEDA and self-test library.
